YITIS Technology Product Reality Check and Mentoring Project

The Yukon Information Technology Industry Society will be hosting a weekend-long event on February 20-21, giving local entrepreneurs with ideas about a new technology product a chance to validate their ideas, and if those ideas check out, an opportunity for further business assistance and mentoring to get those products to market.

To do this, YITIS has contracted the services of Bernd Petak, an expert in the “lean start up” process with more than thirty years of business experience. He will give you tools to work out a realistic understanding of the market you are entering, the kind of time, money and human resources you are going to need, and possible payback you can expect. If your idea passes this acid test, you will then move on to develop a 10 to 15 minute presentation to a panel of local people with business expertise. How about putting it through a Startup Business Reality Check?
The information Technology Industry Society is putting on a weekend-long business mentoring event to help up to eight local technology entrepreneurs validate their product ideas, and to provide mentoring and assistance to companies that pass the reality check phase.
The event consists of three phases
1. You get advice and assistance to help you validate your product idea.
2. You get guidance and help developing the “pitch” for your idea
3. You get to deliver your pitch to a panel of local business people with expertise in product development and marketing
Up to four candidates will be selected by the judges for further mentoring and other assistance to help them get their product developed and marketed.

Time: Saturday and Sunday, February 20 and 21, from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm
Place: (co)space office,
Cost: Selected applicants will be charged a $100 entry fee.
